Scania is undergoing a transformation from being a leading supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to providing complete and sustainable transport solutions. Together with TRATON and our sister brands MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and International, we are working to shape the future of mobility with innovative and environmentally conscious solutions. Our values – customer first, respect, team spirit, responsibility, and elimination of waste – are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are at the forefront of creating a sustainable future.
Role Summary
The increasing complexity of heavy-duty vehicles places growing demands on technical service information. Our mission is to support Scania’s global service network with relevant, high-quality information to ensure efficient service and repair processes — ultimately benefiting our customers worldwide.
We are now looking for a curious and motivated individual who wants to be part of shaping the future of vehicle solutions and service information. Whether you bring hands-on experience, analytical expertise, or a passion for innovation — your perspective matters here.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will act as the voice of the mechanic in Scania's development projects. The position combines both theoretical analysis and practical work with heavy vehicles.
As a Development Engineer, you will be involved in the development of new vehicles and components, focusing on how the final product will be serviced and maintained in the aftermarket. You'll define requirements for design solutions and develop effective and sustainable methods for diagnostics, repair, and maintenance.
Much of the work is carried out digitally using tools like CATIA, but practical hands-on development and method testing in our workshop are also essential parts of the role.
You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders in cross-functional teams. This is a great opportunity to influence the design of Scania’s heavy trucks and buses at the full vehicle level. Your contributions will have a real-world impact on workshop operations globally and support Scania’s long-term profitability in the service market.
Who You Are
- You have a degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field — either at bachelor’s or master’s level — and bring a genuine interest in technology and problem-solving.
- You are a collaborative team player who values diverse perspectives and thrives in a communicative, hands-on environment.
- You are structured, analytical, and eager to take responsibility for both your own work and the team’s success.
- Experience with vehicle workshop tasks or digital simulation tools is a plus, but not a requirement. We value willingness to learn as much as prior knowledge.
- You are fluent in Swedish and have strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
- A category B driver’s license is required. Licenses C, CE, and D are considered advantageous.
