BioLamina is looking for an IT Manager to lead the strategic development and daily operations of our IT infrastructure in a regulated manufacturing environment, while also supporting other critical areas of the business.
In this pivotal role, you will ensure our IT systems effectively support business performance, information security, and cost-efficiency. You will manage our relationship with an outsourced IT provider, ensuring delivery aligns with organizational needs while driving continuous improvement.
This is an opportunity to shape how IT supports reliability, automation, and scalability across the company. The role will be instrumental in guiding our next phase of digital and operational growth—initially without building an internal IT department, but by expertly managing external consultants and resources.
BioLamina is a rapidly growing biotechnology company dedicated to advancing scientific innovation. Our pioneering cell culture solutions are trusted by researchers globally, particularly in stem cell and regenerative medicine. Your contributions will help establish BioLamina as a leader in this evolving industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with external IT service providers, ensuring performance, compliance, and alignment with business needs.
- Information Security: Hold overall responsibility for the organization's information security, including policies, risk mitigation, and incident response.
- IT Strategy & Governance: Define the IT strategy and establish policies, procedures, and frameworks for IT governance and system management.
- Internal Communication & Engagement: Serve as the key communicator for IT-related updates, policies, and initiatives to both employees and the management team.
- Budget & Cost Management: Develop and manage the IT budget, including cost tracking, forecasting, and approval of IT-related expenditures.
- License & Asset Management: Administer and monitor software and system licenses to ensure compliance and cost-efficiency.
- Internal Communication & Engagement: Serve as the key communicator for IT-related updates, policies, and initiatives to both employees and the management team.
- Quality-Aligned IT Management: Manage IT systems and procedural changes in accordance with BioLamina's Quality Management System (QMS), including maintaining accurate system documentation.
- Risk & Quality Assurance: Conduct IT risk assessments and, where applicable, ensure quality testing and validation of critical IT systems.
- Support for Production & R&D: Ensure that IT infrastructure supporting production and R&D is robust, compliant with relevant SOPs, and, where applicable, meets regulatory requirements such as 21 CFR Part 11 (GMP compliance).
- IT Onboarding & Offboarding: Design and maintain structured programs for employee IT onboarding and offboarding, ensuring security and continuity and cost efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant scientific or technical discipline, or comparable professional experience.
- Proven experience in managing IT systems, including the development and implementation of documented routines, policies, procedures, and system documentation.
- Demonstrated experience in information systems risk management.
- Hands-on experience in administering and managing IT environments based on Microsoft 365.
- Experience with budgeting, cost control, and financial follow-up.
- Experience managing IT systems in operational or regulated environments is highly valued, particularly knowledge of FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.
Personal Skills
To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone with strong strategic thinking and the ability to align IT initiatives with broader business objectives. You should be an excellent communicator, able to translate technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders across the organization. As this role involves managing external consultants rather than building an internal IT team, strong leadership and the ability to influence without direct authority are essential. You thrive on solving problems, making well-grounded decisions, and driving improvements in a structured, detail-oriented, and compliant way.
Experience from working in a regulated environment, such as life sciences, pharmaceuticals, or manufacturing, is highly valuable, as it brings an understanding of validation requirements, traceability, and data integrity. Collaboration is at the heart of this role, so we value someone who builds trust and strong relationships across departments and with external partners.
We think you are adaptable, open to new technologies and evolving needs, and comfortable navigating the complexities of a growing organization.
